Wheee!

I'm back in Seattle now -- home of the contradiction -- & I'll have much to comment on as time goes by. But I have something of an update on the California High School Exit Exam issue I'm sure you will all enjoy.

Shortly before leaving the Tarnished State, I caught yet another idiotic news story. It seems that while many of the students who had reportedly not passed the exit exam had succeeded in doing so, a member of the school board, in an interview, made a very interesting comment. It appears that this test, the test to make all our students competitive on an even level with students of schools world-wide, is only testing at an eighth grade level.

That's right. To graduate a California high school, one only has to be educated on eighth grade material.

Typical of America: Why do something better than anyone else -- or even as well -- when you can do a crappy job & call it better?

So, why aren't the news agencies beating down my door to give me a regular pay check for my erudite insights...?
